I’m interested in exploring the transformative potential of memory and the ephemeral. My work employs translation (of medium, context, references) as a tool to allow meaning to fluctuate, creating personal narratives that reveal my queer poetics. Fragments are borrowed, rearranged, or misused. I operate in the “Grey Zone,” as defined by art theorist Claire Bishop, “(...) the intersection of the white cube of contemporary art and the black box of theater.” I am drawn to things that disappear while striving to make ideas last. While my work is about change (meaning, perception, transness, transformations), it is also about connecting, relocating, documenting, and grounding oneself. Ultimately, my practice attempts to remember my life, recognizing that it was lived by many people.
Occasionally, I contribute to the art criticism platform Tangents.
In 2022, I graduated from the Moving Image department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (NL), and since then, I have presented work in institutions and contexts such as; Arti et Amicitiae, Perdu, Stedelijk Museum, Garage Noord (Amsterdam); La Casa Encendida, Matadero (Madrid); Fundació Miró (Barcelona); ICA London. In January 2025, I opened my first solo show, “Ritmos y Poemas”, at Kunsthalle Lissabon.
